Actor Alec Baldwin warns Charlie Sheen he can’t win, advises to make amends with producers of “Men”
Comedian and 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin has warned Charlie Sheen that he cannot win against “Men” producers; advises the beleaguered actor to make amends and apologize and take his job back at “Men”
30 Rock actor, Alec Baldwin has given newly fired “Men” frontman, Charlie Sheen an unsolicited advice on what he thinks is best for Charlie, the producers of hit US television series and the American public.
Baldwin admitted in his editorial at Huffington Post that America wants Charlie Sheen for the US top-rated sitcom.
The actor however, made it clear that Sheen is not as big as his ego when compared to his creator, CBS honcho, Chuck Lorre and the show’s producer, the Warner Bros.
“Take a nap. Get a shower. Call Chuck [Lorre]. Go on Letterman and make an apology. Write a huge check to the B'Nai Brith. And then beg for your job back. Your fans demand it,” Baldwin said in his blog titled, “Two and a Half Men is Better Than None” published by Huffington Post over the weekend.
Noting that Sheen is better off doing “Men” than sitting around when not ranting against his bosses in all US media outlets, the former Oscar host said it is time for Charlie to give up the fight, put down his weapons and raise the ‘white flag’.
In other words, it is time for the beleaguered and very angry actor to make amends because contrary to what Charlie strongly believes in, The Platoon star is at the losing end.
Baldwin said eloquently and with great emphasis, "You can't win. Really. You can't. When executives at studios and networks move up to the highest ranks, they are given a book. The book is called How to Handle Actors.”
The ex-husband of Kim Basinger has reminded Charlie that the big shots at big networks behind big television shows like Charlie’s “Two and a Half Men” have nothing but one core principle.
And this belief, Baldwin continued: “And one principle held dear in that book is that no actor is greater than the show itself when the show is a hit. And, in that regard, they are often right.”
Baldwin is saying that no matter how big Charlie thinks he is, that he could command his bosses, the embattled actor is surely at the wrong side of the fence.
To prove his point, Baldwin enumerated a number of cases that represent actors, who like Charlie, no matter how big they made themselves believe they appear to be, are simply the Davids fighting the Goliaths of network honchos like Lorre, and the studio creators, in the likes of Warner Bros.
Some of them, highlighted Baldwin, included himself against David Kirkpatrick in the 1990s when he thought he would be doing a Tom Clancy movie. But the actor gave a more recent example and cited the case underwent by Conan O’Brien and what he called the television host’s ‘ugly divorce’ from NBC.
Like everyone in Hollywood who in one way or another has suffered what Sheen is going through, Baldwin then strongly suggested Charlie to do the right thing.
"Sober up, Charlie. And get back on TV, if it's not too late," Baldwin insisted in his Huffington editorial.
"This is America. You want to really piss off Chuck and Warner Brothers and CBS? Beg for America's forgiveness. They will give it to you. And then go back."
All Charlie needs to do is take all his pride and ego in and sum up the courage to exercise humility. After all, no one else is amenable to play Charlie Harper of “Two and a Half Men’.
Baldwin wittingly left a post script in his article that said: “… buy [Jon] Cryer a really nice car”.
