After 'Kim Kardashian Hollywood,' Glu Mobile Teams Up With Singer Katy Perry For A Similar Mobile Game
Following the footsteps of reality star Kim Kardashian, pop star Katy Perry will also now have her own mobile game. The “Roar” singer has reportedly teamed up with Glu Mobile, the makers of “Kim Kardashian Hollywood” game, to get her very own game based on the same lines.
The newly proposed game, which is yet to be given a name, will feature Katy's voice and animated picture, just like Kim's game. In a press release by Glu Mobile via E Online, Katy is called the “most recognised musician in America” by Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi. "She is a cultural icon and we expect to translate key elements of her success into an innovative, highly entertaining mobile experience,” Masi was quoted as saying by E Online. The Katy Perry game is expected to be launched by the end of this year.
Kim's mobile game was launched in 2014 and reported a US $74.3 million in revenue in just one year. The “addictive” game is based on Kim's sense of fashion and style. The players are asked to join Kim on her red carpet “adventures” and become a celebrity just like her. The game became an instant hit with the fans of the 34-year-old reality star as it also used her voice and animated pictures.
Though “Kim Kardashian Hollywood” was a free app, it asked its players for purchases at various levels through use of Kim's very own currency, “K-Stars.” Kim told E Online in an earlier interview that she is extremely happy with the response of the game from her fans. She said she often receives suggestions on the game from her fans and is happy that people like it.
The “Kim Kardashian Hollywood” game stayed on top of the Apple App Store charts and gained the number one overall spot in 2014. It was also at number four of top-grossing apps and earned a whopping US $1.6 million in the first five days of its launch.
Apart from launching Katy Perry's mobile game, Glu mobile will also reportedly launch movie-based games. The company is set to launch a game on “James Bond” and "Terminator" in the future, according to Business Insider.
