“Agent Carter” season 2 will be introducing a new female super villain, the executive producers of the show revealed in a recent interview. The character will be a modified version of a familiar villain from the Marvel comic books. [Spoiler alert]

In an interview with SlashFilm, executive producers Tara Butters and Chris Dingess revealed that the new villain in the next season will be Madame Masque, also known as Whitney Frost in the comics. The character will be a little different from the comics and the producers said that they have “co-opted” the character and put their own “spin” on her.

“I think we’ve changed the look of her a bit obviously. We’ve made her an actress, which is very Hedy Lamar,” Butters said. The producer also revealed that the villain will be a “siren actress” in the 1940s and is also said to be a “scientific genius.” The role has already been cast, but the producers are apparently not allowed to make the announcement on who is playing the role yet.

Butters felt that having a female villain on the show was important because there aren’t many female villains on TV shows, just as there aren’t many female superheroes. “I also think because she’s a female villain, her story informs Peggy’s story in a unique way and vice versa,” Dingess added.

The main villain in “Agent Carter” season 1 was Dr. Ivchenko, who is also known as Dr. Fennhoff, and the character was played by Ralph Brown on the show. Ivchenko was helped by the Russian assassin Dottie Underwood, played by Bridget Regan.

The story continues in Hollywood in the next season, where Peggy [Hayley Atwell] continues to work for the Strategic Scientific Reserve [SSR.] After the death of Roger Dooley [Shea Whigham] the spy agency will now be headed by Agent Sousa [Enver Gjokaj.] The producers teased that Peggy and Sousa will be seen working together in some of the action sequences next year.

In a previous interview with EntertainmentWeekly, executive producer Michele Fazekas teased there will be more than one villain in “Agent Carter” season 2. He further added that viewers who are familiar with Marvel comics will be able to recognize the villain.
