Travelers who check in Airbnb accommodations would likely think twice before doing so again. It’s because an Airbnb host claims to have secretly filmed guests having sex and sharing the footage with other Airbnb hosts.

The host made the claim on PostSecret, a secret-sharing website, reports The Telegraph. The post reads: “I swap hidden camera sex videos with other airbnb hosts.”

Airbnb, which has more than 1.5 million holiday rentals listed globally, issued a statement immediately, saying there is no evidence to support the claim. The post is the most talked about secret this week, according to site moderators on PostSecret’s Facebook page where it was shared more than 1,000 times, reports News.com.au.

Observer reports that a redditor had the experience in January 2015 when he and his girlfriend found a camera from Dropcam, a connected home security system by Google’s Nest. The camera was hidden in a mesh basket which the couple unplugged.

Other Airbnb hosts, such as Jen Hunter, says she was shocked and saddened by the posting because for the past two years, she has been treating her guests with kindness and respect. Rebekah Rish Kuempel comments the concept of consent has been set back by another few years.

To detect hidden cameras, Sidharth Udani suggest making the room completely dark, opening your mobile camera and searching inside the room. Hidden cameras or infrared sensors would be seen as a red dot, he explains.

Others think it is the handiwork of a business rival attempting to damage Airbnb’s reputation. Simon Heathcote asks, “If I were a traditional BnB and Airbnb were putting the squeeze on me, what a good rumour?”

In an online survey, The Telegraph asked its readers if they would still stay in an Airbnb, and 66 percent of 1,000 voters said they would still because the allegation is unproven and it could happen anywhere.
