Alan Pardew's Move From Newcastle To Crystal Palace And Other Managerial Movements
After receiving adequate compensation the Newcastle power hierarchy have given the go ahead to their current manager Alan Pardew, 53, to discuss personal terms with Crystal Palace. On Monday night Newcastle made the news public using their official Twitter account. Pardew's assistant manager at Newcastle John Craver will take on the training duties with immediate effect.
Alan Pardew took over the job four years ago and is under contract with Newcastle until 2020. In 2012 he guided Newcastle to a highly commendable fifth place finish at the Barclays Premier League. Having started this season poorly and spending a long time at the relegation zone, Newcastle are now in the top half of the table. It is understood that Pardew will double his salary with this move. Prior to Newcastle Pardew had managed Reading, West Ham United, Charlton Athletic and Southampton. This present four years term made him the fourth longest serving manager in English football. The top three are Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, Paul Tisdale at Exeter City and Karl Robinson at ML Dons.
Currently Crystal Palace are presently being managed by caretaker manager Keith Millen, who worked under the previous three managers Neil Warnock, Tony Pulis and Ian Holloway. He had also voiced his eagerness to get the job fulltime. At the present moment Palace are fighting a relegation battle.
In another news, Alan Irvine, the West Bromwich Albion manager has been sacked by the club after their latest defeat at the hands of Stoke City FC. The manager was appointed in June after the previous manager Pepe Mel was sacked. The 56 year old scot was given a 12 month rolling contract. Presently West Brom are at the 16th place at the league table, just a point above the relegation zone. West Brom will play West Ham on New Year's Day with Rob Kelly and Keith Downing as the caretaker managers.
