Alice in Wonderlands bags the first prize at Oscars for Best in Art Direction
Alice in Wonderland, starring A-list actor, Johnny Depp and first-time Oscar host, Anne Hathaway has nabbed the first prize at 83rd Academy Awards at Kodak Theatre Sunday night. Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” bagged the art direction award for this year, beating out Oscars’ favorite, The King Speech.
The King Speech, featuring English actor, Colin Firth leads this year’s Oscars with 12 nominations and is a strong favorite to win best picture. The movie is a dramatization of British ruler, George VI’s struggle to overcome his crippling stammer.
But as David Germain of the Associated Press noted, “The Social Network”, a movie chronicling the legal battles faced by Facebook founder, Marck Zuckerberg is an equally tough contender for the best picture category.
Robert Stromberg and Karen O'Hara accepted the Oscar for Art Direction for their work in "Alice in Wonderland".
