Alleged Drunk Driver Kayla Mendoza Posts Incriminating Tweets Before Killing 2 Persons In Car Accident
Kayla Mendoza was “2 drunk 2 care” just hours before she allegedly caused a crash that killed two people and left her in serious condition. The 20-year-old Florida, U.S. resident, who is fond of bragging about her drinking and drug habits on Twitter, might have given clues how the tragic road accident occurred on Saturday.
Miami New Times reported that Mendoza of Hallandale Beach, Florida, was pulling her Hyundai Sonata onto an expressway going the wrong way when she crashed into a 2012 Toyota Camry just after 1:45 am.
The passenger of the Camry, 21-year-old Marisa Caran Catronio, died on the scene, while the driver, Kaitlyn Nicole Ferrante, also 21, was taken to Broward Health North and placed on a life support system. She died on Tuesday.
“The vehicle came upon a Toyota Camry, struck the Toyota Camry head-on and the passenger of the Toyota Camry was pronounced dead at the scene,” Florida Highway Patrol Spokesman Sgt Mark Wysocky told the NBC Miami.
Mendoza was also transported to the hospital, and is in serious condition.
As she hasn’t yet been able to give her testimony, it’s still unclear how she has made such an obvious and basic road error. However, a quick check of her Twitter page might give authorities the answer that they need.
Hours before the accident, Mendoza tweeted on her page that she was “2 drunk 2 care.”

It’s not the first time she has bragged about her lifestyle on social media. On her Twitter account, which has a slightly altered spelling of her first name, she describes herself as a “pothead princess.”
