Kathy Bates and Sarah Paulson are returning to star in the fifth instalment of FX’s popular horror anthology series, “American Horror Story.” Ryan Murphy, co-creator of the show, took to Twitter to announce the casting of the two actresses for “American Horror Story-Hotel.” He revealed that Bates will be seen running the hotel while Paulson will be playing the “baddest girl.”

Murphy said on Twitter, “Kathy Bates is running the Hotel.” He later posted, “Sarah Paulson is checking into “Hotel.” And this season, she's the baddest bad girl of them all.”

There were enough indications that Bates will be returning for “American Horror Story” Season 5, however Paulson’s casting was shrouded in uncertainty, as she is also starring in the first season of Murphy’s new anthology, “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.”

After “American Horror Story-Freak Show” wrapped up, there was much speculation about the new season’s storyline and whether veteran actress Jessica Lange will be making an appearance. It is Lady Gaga who revealed on Twitter the subtitle and theme of “American Horror Story” Season 5 is “Hotel.” She was the first confirmed casting for the upcoming season. Gaga will be seen in a series regular role, though her character’s details have still been kept under wraps.

Matt Bomer, who made a guest-appearance in an episode of “American Horror Story” Season 4, will be seen as a series regular in Season 5. At PaleyFest, Bomer did not confirm whether his character will romance Lady Gaga’s character or not.

Cheyenne Jackson, Chloe Sevigny, who starred in “American Horror Story-Asylum” and Wes Bentley, who had a recurring role as Edward Mordrake in “Freak Show,” are part of the new season. Murphy shared on Twitter that Sevigny and Bentley have signed on as series regulars.

Lange put to rest all the speculations about her return at PaleyFest. She said that she is done with the series. Elsa Mars was her final role for “American Horror Story” anthology

Meanwhile, Evan Peters is likely to return, as well, but he may not get to star opposite his fiancée Emma Roberts. The actress may not make an appearance in the new season, as she is playing the lead role in FOX’s new series “Scream Queens.” Murphy is the co-creator of this show too.
