'American Idol' season 15 recap: Meet the finale season's top 24

In just under two hours, the latest episode “American Idol” showed 51 contestants further reduced to the Top 24. The episode was agonising for all the contestants until they were told that they would move on to the next round.

The Top 24 are:

1. Stephany Negrete. She had high heels on that were obviously causing her much pain. However, panel judge Jennifer Lopez told her never to take her shoes off, especially on camera.
2. Shelbie Z. A former contestant on “The Voice” with a powerful voice.
3. MacKenzie Bourg. Also a former contestant on “The Voice” who sounds like Ed Sheeran.
4. Trent Harmon. A good performer despite having mono sound.
5. Jenna Renae. A former contestant on “America’s Got Talent.”
6. James VIII. A guitarist who initially did not plan to join the show when he accompanied a friend to audition.
7. Adam Lashler. A returning contestant, who is also the nephew of Carlos Santana.
8. Jeneve Rose Mitchell, the mountain girl.
9. CJ Johnson from Memphis.
10. Amelia Eisenhauer. Vulture wrote that she may be in danger of getting eliminated next week.
11. Lea Jean, whose best friend did not make the cut.
12. Avalon Young, who prefers to dress down.
13. Dalton Rapattoni, a boy band member.
14. Manny Torres, the last person to audition for the show.
15. Thomas Stringfellow, whose girlfriend broke up with him the night before the performance.
16. SonikaVaid, who has a great tone, although her performance needs improvement.
17. Olivia Rox, the beautiful daughter of jazz musician Warren Hill.
18. Emily Brooke, a returning contestant from last season.
19. Gianna Isabella, the daughter of pop singer Brenda K. Starr.
20. Jenn Blosil, who has a unique quirky tone.
21. Tristan McIntosh, son of a military man.
22. Jordan Sasser, whose wife did not make the cut.
23. La’PorshaRenae, the single mum with great hair.
24. Kory Wheeler, another returning contestant.

Some of the notable contenders who did not make the Top 24 include Michelle Marie, Malie Delgado, Colette Lush and Jessica Cabral. Lindita and Kacye Haynes also failed to proceed to the next round.

Twelve contestants are set to perform in the following week. They will be doing solo numbers and duets with former “American Idol” contestants. Five will also be sent home afterwards.
