Amy’s Baking Company owners Amy and Samy Bouzaglo are speaking up (again) on their alleged earned infamy after their disastrous appearance on the U.S. reality show “Kitchen Nightmares.” The Arizona-based restaurateurs opened up about celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s difficultness, their criminal past, Samy’s deportation case, the harassments and death threats they receive, their crazy employee contract, and their upcoming reality show.

The Bouzaglos already had a not-so-savoury reputation even before they appeared on “Kitchen Nightmares” in May (their episode was shot in December). They have been gathering negative reviews of their food and service on YELP and on their social networking sites so they thought a world-class chef could help them disprove their critics.

However, Ramsay also didn’t have a pleasant time at the restaurant. He was served with subpar food and he found out how horribly the serving staff were treated. He learned from a waitress named Miranda that the tips diners left for them were taken by the Bouzaglos. Not only that, Amy also couldn’t take criticisms, and her husband shielded her from such.

As a result, their already tattered reputation suffered more. People who watched the show also attacked them on social media, the press hounded them for comments, and there were even some people who threaten their lives.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, the couple said that they were wrongly portrayed on Ramsay’s reality show.

“Physically, this has taken a huge toll on me,” 40-year-old Amy said. “Over the past couple of months, we’ve gone from being completely unknown to having people call us at 3am saying they’re going to break into our house with a rifle, rape me, and kill my husband.”

“God is giving us the strength to get through it, we’re fighters and survivors – and we have our cats! We’re dedicated to showing everyone who is still unwilling to accept the truth that we don’t poison the food, we don’t assault employees and customers – and we don’t steal our servers tips.”

Her statement was in total contrary of what they have admitted in the show.

Straight from Amy’s mouth, as heard in the show’s episode, she would retaliate at customers who sent their food back to the kitchen by burning their orders or making it really spicy so they wouldn’t be able to enjoy it.

As for the tips, Samy nonchalantly admitted to Ramsay that he didn’t let servers pocket their tips. Their employee contract stated that all tips should be surrendered to the Bouzaglos.

Aside from the tips part, which some people pointed out is illegal in the U.S. where tipping is customary, their employee contract also included non-compent and radius restriction clause, which critics found extremely unreasonable.

“My husband is a gentleman, he would never let a woman pay for anything if she was with him, he would rather cut his balls off than take money from any waitress or servers,” she tearfully insisted. “We never had a complaint in six years and we never took money from our servers.”

“In Europe they have a different tipping system, just as they do in China and Japan and many restaurants in New York are considering doing away with tipping completely,” Amy reasoned out.

However, she also admitted that they have been listening to the “outcry” so now they are giving the servers their tips.

“It would still work out in their favour to be paid hourly, but now they’re guaranteed to make a minimum of $7.80 an hour and we make sure they go home with more than that, 100 per cent.”

The Bouzaglos also took out the non-compete clause in their contract.

“We are very good, strong people to work with and the staff we have now, they love us, they know who we are,” Amy asserted.

Amy and Samy have been married for ten years. Both have criminal pasts, with Amy serving time in federal prison for submitting credit application with a bank using another person’s social security number, and Samy serving 15 years in prison before he migrated to the U.S. for trafficking drugs in Germany and France.

Samy is also facing possible deportation to Israel, which worries the couple a lot.

A loyal Amy said of her husband, “I believe if anyone deserves to stay here, it’s my husband. We will continue to fight, we’re good people.”

Ramsay, according to Amy, didn’t give her constructive criticism. In fact, according to her, she “chased” him to ask why he didn’t like her food but he just said he would talk about it later. Again, her statement is confusing for people who watched the show and saw that she was the one who didn’t want to listen to criticisms.

After previously calling the blond Ramsay a “ginger head troll,” Amy seemingly had a change of heart, telling the Daily Mail that “Now we can only defend Gordon Ramsay, we support him and hope that people are not as quick to judge him and hate on him because of these accusations.”

“Kitchen Nightmares was not doing very well and the ratings were not very strong. Our show was the highest they ever had, it broke all of the records, so there are no hard feelings to Fox or Gordon. We are upset about the way we were portrayed and edited but we are focusing on our future now.”

Despite being portrayed as villains, the Bouzaglos are grateful for the exposure because now people are flocking to Amy’s Baking Company.

“Now we’re working on our own reality show so stay tuned!” Amy announced.
