Andrei Arlovski To Miss Six To Eight Weeks In UFC Due To Recent Shoulder Surgery
UFC heavyweight Andrei Arlovski will be sidelined for a couple of months before returning to mixed martial arts competition due to his recent shoulder surgery according to his manager, Leo Khorolinksy. "Andrei Arlovski's manager just told me he just got shoulder surgery and will be out six to eight weeks. He's not thinking about his next fight right now," Ariel Helwani of FOX Sports and MMA Fighting shared.
Andrei Arlovski has recently undergone a shoulder surgery, and his next fight in the UFC will likely be sometime in 2015 to give time for his recovery. Ariel Helwani revealed that the former heavyweight champion will be out of the cage following his left shoulder arthroscopic surgery last week to give an ample time for recovery.
Once he completes his rehabilitation period after his shoulder surgery, the former UFC title holder will be fit to go back to fighting in the UFC. Thus far, Arlovski's next target fighter when he comes back is yet to be determined by the UFC, but it is very likely that he will be a high-profile fighter.
Following his two victories in 2014, Arlovski was able to thrust himself back into relevancy in the UFC's heavyweight division. He is currently on a four-fight winning streak.
"The Pitbull" started his second stint with the promotion against Brendan Schaub, where he won in a controversial split decision. And then, he cemented his spot in the heavyweight rankings after his knockout win over Antonio Silva.
The Belarusian held the UFC title in 2005 and defended it twice before losing to Tim Sylvia at UFC 59. After he won against Jake O'Brien in UFC 82, he voluntarily left the organisation for other promotions. Arlovski's comeback story is remarkable as he started a four-fight losing streak between 2009 and 2011 with a brutal knockout loss to Fredor Emelianenko. Ever since, Arlovski compiled an 8-1 record, including victories in this last four fights.
