Cub Swanson is one win away from a title shot, according to Swanson himself. After the UFC president Dana White promised that Conor McGregor will get a title if he beats Dennis Siver, Swanson also claims that he received a similar word from the UFC executive. As he wrote on Twitter:

The @ufc has assured me the next shot at Aldo. As long as I win my fight against Edgar. http://t.co/PIRQgURAAS

"A lot of people are dismissing Siver and saying this fight is ridiculous," the UFC president said at the post-UFC 179 press conference according to MMA junkie. "Siver knows exactly what happens if he comes in and beats Conor McGregor."

He further added that it will be a huge win for him so there is really no sense to talk about the Aldo fight. On the other hand, if McGregor will win, he is interested to make the McGregor vs. Aldo fight. However, he reiterated that it has yet to happen and then he'll see how everything else plays out. White previously claimed that McGregor was considered for a title shot after his fourth straight win and then he was elected to book him opposite Siver, which was criticised by fans.

In the headliner of next month's UFC Fight Night 57 event on Nov. 22 at the Frank Erwin Centre in Austin Texas, Swanson is scheduled to fight the former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. If victorious, Swanson will bag his seventh straight UFC victory but one strike to his stellar record is his eight-second loss to Jose Aldo at WEC 41 in 2009.

Swanson does not have the strong presence that McGregor exudes at press conferences but his six-fight win streak dating back to January 2012 is hard to ignore. Swanson recently defeated Jeremy Stephens at UFC Fight Night 44 in June by unanimous decision, not to mention his four-knockout record in a 34-month span.

In the event that Swanson beats Frankie Edgar, who is a former UFC featherweight title challenger and lightweight champion at UFC Fight Night 57 next month, he would have the no. 2 spot in the UFC featherweight official ranking and have a chance for a championship fight.
