Angelina Jolie and her many ‘exotic’ voices in ‘Kung Fu Panda’
Jolie who was joined by co-star, Jack Black in an interview revealed that she tried not only different tones of her voice but also as many accents as she could to get the producers give her the role.
Angelina Jolie has confirmed rumors that in her attempt to voice Tigress in “Kung Fu Panda” the A-list actress used different accents - - and exotic ones- - while auditioning for DreamWorks’ animation.
In a sit-down interview with MTV News, Jolie who was joined by co-star, Jack Black, revealed that she tried not only different tones of her voice but also as many accents as she could to get the producers give her the role.
"I did, I did," Jolie confirmed. "I've never loved my own voice. Like most people, you hear your own voice and you think, 'Ugh.' So I came in and I was Mae West for a while," Jolie was quoted as describing the ‘saucy screen legend’, said the MTV News.
Recalling the audition with laughter, Jolie then enumerated the different accents that she thought could impress the directors, whom she added had talked her into using her ‘natural’ voice.
"I was doing southern, I was doing British, I was doing any accent I could come up with. Finally, they had to give me the talking-to that they'd analyzed my voice and they'd hired me and they were very fine with my [natural voice], 'So please just stop doing those horrible voices,' " Jolie said, according to MTV News.
Jolie voiced as ‘Tigress” described by MTV News as “feisty fighter” in the "Kung Fu Panda" sequel. alongside Dragon Warrior Po (Black). Her character joins forces with Dragon Warrior Po, played by Jack Black and other Kung-fu fighters in fighting a new villain who has plans conquering China and destryong kung fu using a secret weapon.
Kung Fu Panda is one among the films featured in the Cannes Film Festival that kicked off May 11 and with its last film to close the festival on May 22.
