Apple Extends iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Release in Other Countries to 3-4 Weeks
Apple hit jackpot with its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus offerings. The company posted its biggest openings yet with initial supplies running out and forcing the company to extend lead time. The same goes for countries other than United States as Apple has to extend the lead more to 3-4 weeks to other regions to compensate demand with supply. While this may sound good for Apple, eager consumers will have to exert more patience.
Previously, Apple indicated in its country websites that people should give around 5-7 days lead time when ordering the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. However, according to Forbes, this may just be more of a placeholder than the actual supply indicator. The report also noted that countries like Spain, Italy, Denmark, Austria and Finland saw Apple country websites changing the lead time from 5-7 business days to 3-4 weeks. The lead time for iPhone 6 Plus in Turkey went from 2-3 weeks to 3-4 weeks. The same goes for Taiwan.
In another report by Forbes, while the lead times may have been expected this is actually better than anticipated previously. Apple encountered supply problems beforehand with the initial available units not able to address the surge of preorders and continuing orders. Although the company website in different countries indicated 3-4 weeks, there may be actual hope as other regions like Australia saw lead times shrunk to 7-10 business days. It appears the tech giant has been finding a way to work around the demand and supply of its latest flagship series.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are available in three memory options: 16GB, 64GB and 128 GB. The two devices also come in three color variants: silver, gold and space gray. Both devices feature the latest iOS 8 with additional health tracking capabilities.
