The iPhone 7 Plus is the best phone Apple has ever produced to date, but how does it fare battery-wise against its predecessors? Let’s see if the Cupertino-based tech giant’s latest handset can topple the older iPhone 6s Plus and the even older iPhone 6 Plus in a battery endurance test.

The new iPhone 7 Plus equips a non-removable lithium-ion battery with 2,900 mAh capacity. It offers up to 21 hours of phone calls and 60 hours of music play. Apple’s latest smartphone can last a couple days of moderate usage.

One advantage that the iPhone 7 Plus has over the previous models is that it packs the latest energy-efficient A10 Fusion chipset, which allows for a longer battery life. No fast charging feature is available on the iPhone 7 Plus, so charging can take more than two hours before the battery is full.

The iPhone 6s Plus lithium-ion battery is also non-removable although it has a much lower capacity compared to that of the iPhone 7 Plus at 2,750 mAh. The 6s Plus delivers up to 24 hours of talk time and 80 hours of music play. Just like its successor, it can last up to two days with normal use.

The iPhone 6s Plus also has a battery-saving feature that provides an extra number of hours. Users can turn it on by going to Settings so they can be notified when the battery level drops to 20 percent. The iPhone 6s Plus also takes about two hours to fully charge.

The iPhone 6 Plus furnishes a non-removable 2,915 mAh lithium polymer battery, which is slightly more powerful than that of the iPhone 7 Plus in terms of strength, although it provides the same number of hours as the iPhone 6s Plus when it comes to phone calls and music play. According to Trusted Reviews, the iPhone 6 Plus can last two full days of reasonable use provided that the display brightness is set to 50 percent.

When TechRadar pitted the three Apple iPhone Plus handsets against each other in a rigid battery performance test, the iPhone 6 Plus was completely drained after just 3 hours and 34 minutes of work. The iPhone 6s Plus lasted 3 hours and 54 minutes while the iPhone 7 Plus withstood the heavy labour the longest, lasting 4 hours and 15 minutes.
