Apple's iPhone 6 Release To Include 5.5-inch Display And Wireless Chip
Despite the spotlight on Samsung's Galaxy S5, the market has been buzzing about Apple's iPhone 6. Apple's iPhone 5s has been successful. Many wonder if the company can replicate the same success despite competition.
Samsung, Sony and HTC have also been gunning for the topspot in the smartphone industry. According to recent reports, Apple's iPhone 6 may feature a 5.5-inch display, including a wireless chip. Can Apple deliver once more?
Apple is set to release its iPhone 6, iWatch and a new wave of iPads this year. There are reports claiming the company will release its next flagship phone by September in time for the holidays. According to DisplaySearch, there are two possible upgrades for Apple's iPhone 6. First is the display upgrade from 4-inch to 5.5-inch and a higher resolution than 1,136 x 640 pixel resolution in the iPhone 5s.
The high-end version of the iPhone 6 will reportedly sport a 5.5-inch display, including a 1,920 x 1,080 display based on low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) LCD. It is a similar technology found in iPhone 5s. If the report is accurate, then this will allow Apple to move the iPhone's resolution closer to Samsung Galaxy S4. The S4 features a 5-inch screen with 1,920 x 1,080 display.
Apple's new display offering would be different. Samsung uses a different kind of AMOLED technology. In terms of AMOLED technology, Display Search also said Apple will be using the same technology on its reported iWatch.
Wireless Chips
According to Daily Finance, Apple may be looking into processing more of its chips, including wireless chips. Many tech manufacturers have jumped in the wireless bandwagon but this remains a room for exploration for Apple. Daily Finance pointed out that Apple appears to be hiring people to work on the RF front end and RF transceiver. Analysts thought it will not be a good investment for the company if it starts looking into building RF front end/transceiver without continuing to produce its own cellular baseband. Integrating such to the A-series SoCs is the best move for the company.
If this happens, the iPhone 6 can feature a range of new wireless options for Apple products. Analysts believed Qualcomm days may be numbered with this move from Apple. The market will have to watch out what happens throughout the year.
