UFO enthusiasts are delighted to hear that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) finally admitted the existence of the mysterious Area 51. However, the U.S. government still remains tight-lipped about the reality of UFO sightings and aliens at the top-secret test site located in the Mojave Desert approximately 100 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada.

The National Security Archive at George Washington University posted online the declassified CIA documents that confirm the existence of Area 51. The released documents described as well a couple of aviation activities conducted in the area and the impressive aircrafts but the Air Force base is located alongside the dry Groom Lake bed on the map.

The site has been known as Area 51 to the UFO buffs coming from the base's label on the old Nevada test site maps. Officials renamed the site to "Paradise Ranch" in an attempt to draw in capable workers.

The hired workers traveled from Las Vegas to Area 51 or also known as "The Ranch" for several years where they signed national-security vows of secrecy regarding any information about the facility. Some of workers reportedly died after symptoms of strange rashes and respiratory problems surfaced while others became plaintiffs in a case against the government that George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley brought up.

An anonymous researcher snooped around a CIA report regarding the U-2 spy plane history where tests and operations were done at Area 51. The connection between the test site and the U-2 plane project has contributed to the remarkable increase of UFO sightings reported near Area 51.

CIA's report mostly deals with the U-2 spy plane design and production. The report further noted down that the U-2 and Oxcart planes explain half of the UFO sighting reports filed during 1950s and 1960s.

However, theories on conspiracy and secrecy are still expected to continue since the 407-paged document could be full of revised material. In 2002, Jeffrey Richelson of the National Security Archive assessed a heavily edited copy of the official U-2 program history that CIA internally issued back in 1992.

Mr Richelson filed a request to review the program history once more in 2005. The member of the National Security Archive received the less revised documents a couple of weeks ago with the acknowledgement of Area 51 this time.
