The Sony Xperia Honami is expected to be unveiled ahead of the 2013 IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany but the latest reports claim that the Japanese company is possibly working on a Mini version of the Sony Xperia device. The upcoming smaller sized Honami is rumoured to have the familiar design, features and specs found on the Sony Xperia i1 Honami handset.

Member Kurozumi Yoshiro of Sony's board of directors recently spoke to a Japanese publication hinting about the company's plans for the upcoming Sony Xperia devices. The board of directors' member discussed the company's visions in understanding the demands of every consumer and the tough market competition.

After recently launching the 6.4-inch Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Kurozumi Yoshiro revealed that Sony will now be focusing on 4- and 5-inch screen sized smartphones as well as 10-inch tablets to be released in the near future. The Honami device is expected to be a 5-inch Sony device so the company is anticipated to release the smaller 4-inch size Honami Mini as a new competitor against rival devices such as Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and HTC One Mini.

Furthermore, a leaked detail found on the Esato Forum and issued on tech news Web site Phone Arena claims that the Honami Mini will go under the codename of Ray 3. Other reports suggest that Sony may launch the upcoming device under the Xperia line as a successor to the existing Sony Xperia Z smartphone.

The Honami Mini is rumoured to have a 4.3-inch Triluminos screen display at 720p resolution compared to the 5-inch Full HD screen display at 1080p resolution of the Sony Xperia i1 Honami. Other familiar specs expected to be incorporated on the Honami Mini are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage capacity.

There will be the matching 20.7MP camera with the Sony G lens for optical system having an f/2.0 aperture. The Honami Mini may include as well the rumoured QX10 and QX100 interchangeable lens accessories that will allow the users to take image capturing in a different level and even face up to the Nikon and Canon DSLR cameras.

The Sony Xperia Honami's official launch is anticipated to take place on September 4 at a scheduled Sony press event. For the Honami Mini device, the details on when the rumoured 4-inch Sony smartphone will be introduced have not been confirmed yet.
