'Arrow' Season 4: Alex Kingston returning; Madison McLaughlin to guest star; Vixen spinoff on the cards
Cast member Alex Kingston will reportedly be returning to “Arrow” TV series in Season 4. Meanwhile, Stephen Amell has announced that actor Madison McLaughlin will be a guest star in one of the episodes of the show.
According to a report by Spoiler TV, Kingston was spotted in Vancouver, where filming of the TV series takes place. The actress was reportedly there to film her scenes for the show, although it is not yet clear how her character will fit into the current storyline.
Kingston plays a character named Dinah Lance in the TV series. The character was last seen in 2014 in the episode titled “The Climb.” The actress has also been busy with her other popular TV series “Doctor Who,” in which she plays Professor River Song.
McLaughlin is a new cast member of the TV series. Amell made the announcement on Twitter. The actor did not reveal details about the character the actress will be playing on the show or in which episode she will be seen.
A speculation about the possible role of McLaughlin in “Arrow” Season 4 posted on TV Line states that she may be playing a young character named Rebecca. A casting breakdown of the character is a close match of the actress. The casting call describes Rebecca as a “smart, snarky” “escapee of a dangerous cult.” She is set to appear in episode 19.
Meanwhile, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg teased about a possible Vixen spinoff in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I think anyone who appears anywhere on any of these shows has the potential to be more if there’s a demand for it,” the producer said. He explained that even for the cartoon version of Vixen they got Megalyn Echikunwoke, instead of using a random voice actor.
Echikunwoke made her debut as the Vixen in “Arrow” Season 4 and is poised to return in future episodes of the show. The next episode of the TV series, episode 16, is slated to air on March 23.
