“Arrow” Season 4, Episode 16 (“Broken Hearts”) airs March 23 on The CW. There is no new episode this week, but Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen and Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity Smoak a.k.a. Overwatch will return in a week’s time to show what happens next to Olicity, after the sad ending in the previous episode (“Taken”).

Spoiler alert: This update contains “Arrow” Season 4 spoilers. Read on if you’re well caught up.

Quick recap: In the last three episodes, Oliver Queen has cut off Malcolm Merlyn’s (John Barrowman) arm, gave Thea (Willa Holland) an elixir that puts an end to her bloodlust, worked with Vixen (Megalyn Echikunwoke) to save his son William (Jack Moore) and convinced Samantha Clayton (Anna Hopkins) to let William know who he really is – sometime in the future.

Too many secrets for one heart. Felicity Smoak was okay with everything, until she discovered that Oliver made another major life decision without consulting her at all. This ultimately compelled Felicity to end her engagement with Oliver. Emily Bett Rickards said her character’s decision was predictable.

Did Rickards know Felicity would break up with Oliver? “(W)hen she finds out this information that she would hope to have known, we can probably predict how she is going to react!” Rickards told TVLine. Still, the new episode synopsis suggests Olicity will still be working together.

Who is in the grave in “Arrow” Season 4? Asked about a fan theory that Felicity was not really in the limo (in the flash forward scene that connects to the mystery grave), Rickards said it was “cool.” At the time of the interview, the actress had not read a script revealing the character who bites the dust.

At the recent Heroes and Villains Fanfest in Chicago, the “Arrow” cast members had a chance to share their thoughts on the dying character. Fans learned from the event that filming for the last three episodes of “Arrow” Season 4 begins this week. MoviePilot summarises the characters’ thoughts in a report.

Paul Blackthorne’s Captain Quentin Lance is one of the most frequently mentioned characters among fans discussing who-dies-next theories. At the fanfest event, the actor said he hopes to be “breathing” in “Arrow” Season 5.

Charlotte Ross, who plays Donna a.k.a. Mama Smoak, told Zap2It it could be Felicity’s mother in the grave although she couldn’t be sure.

“One day I’m like, ‘Oh no, it couldn’t be Donna,’ and the next I’m like, ‘Oh no, of course it’s Donna!’ Because Emily looked so upset in that limo and she loves me so much it must be me.”

Katie Cassidy, who plays Laurel Lance, compared the imminent Season 4 death scene to the death of Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell) in “Arrow” Season 1.

"You know, it's like it was in Season 1 when Colin (Tommy) died, it's always sad, but at the same time, it is what it is, it's television, it's kind of like taking one for the team,” Cassidy said.
