The next episode of “Arrow” season 5 is expected to see Oliver (Stephen Amell) dealing with the challenges he’s bound to overcome in order to keep his mayoral position. The upcoming episode is titled "Fighting Fire with Fire.”

In “Arrow” season 5 episode 14, it was revealed that the show’s main protagonist has instructed Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) to conceal the involvement of the Green Arrow in the demise of Detective Billy Malone (Tyler Ritter). The revelation has resulted to a petition to have him impeached as the city’s mayor. It will be interesting to see whether or not Oliver’s administration will be gone forever.

It seems Amell will personally feel bad if his character loses his seat as the mayor of Star City. “We actually get to focus on the task of governing Star City, and I’ve really been enjoying it,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

But Oliver’s mayoral seat is not the only thing at risk. Even his own life is in danger as vigilante appears to have an intention of killing him. The reason why the vigilante wanted to murder the mayor was because he thought he was a corrupt official. In the promotional clip for the next episode, the vigilante is seen pointing a gun to a car which Oliver is likely driving. It is also likely that the identity of the vigilante will be revealed.

Meanwhile, Amell has teased fans about what to expect from the upcoming episodes of the series. He said one the biggest revelations that they will see this year is his character learning something about the person that he was in the first season. “He’s unchained in Russia in terms of responsibilities, and it has gone really dark in the flashbacks, but to me, that doesn’t negate the growth that Oliver has experienced,” the actor explained.

When asked in an interview with EW if he thinks Oliver and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) can be together again, the actor has given a positive reply. The reason why the two characters went separate ways in the show was due to lack of trust. But Amell believes that there's hope that things can be mended. "I mean, we live in a television world. Fences can always be mended," he said.

Wendy Mericle, Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter executive produce the series. Fans in Australia can catch "Fighting Fire With Fire" on Fox8. The series airs Tuesdays at 8:10 a.m. The second half of “Arrow” season 5 has premiered Jan. 25 on the CW in the US.
