'Arrow' season 5: Oliver makes peace with the departure of Diggle and Thea
The finale episode of “Arrow” left viewers with plenty of unanswered questions. And with the season 5 premiere approaching, there is only greater anticipation to what Oliver Queen will do to keep the team from completely falling apart.
Season 4 ended with Stephen Amell’s Oliver defeating Neal McDonough’s Damien Darhk. Oliver was also elected as the interim mayor of Star City. The downside, however, was that Diggle and Thea, portrayed by David Ramsey and Willa Holland respectively, put down their arrows after the battle was won.

At the beginning of “Arrow” season 5, Oliver is in denial of his teammates’ departure, despite the probing of Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity to find new members. "The thing he's hoping for is that things will go back to normal," executive producer Wendy Mericle explained to TV Guide. "I think he's really saying that they're going to come back, we're going to get back to Team Green Arrow, and we're going to fight the good fight."
However, a new villain quickly brings Oliver back to reality and he puts together a group of amateur heroes to save the day. One of these new characters is Wild Dog, played by Rick Gonzales, who Maricle describes as “a completely loose cannon.” It is his lack of respect for rules, however, that will make his character stand out in the series.
There is also Evelyn Sharp, played by Madison McLaughlin, who made her "Arrow" debut last season. As Mericle confirmed, it is her bravery that will set her apart and truly makes her special. However, her lack of skills will be detrimental in the beginning of the season.
