'Arrow' Season 5 spoilers: Villains unite; Mayor captured

A promo of “Arrow” Season 5 has been released online. The video shows the villains of Star City planning to come together to take on the threat posed by the superhero defeated Damien Darhk.

The trailer begins with the Arrowcave, which was nearly destroyed in the previous season. Thea (Willa Holland) no longer wants to be Speedy and John Diggle (David Ramsey) is back in the military. This leaves Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) as the only two members left in the superhero team. One of the scenes in the promo teases Diggle in his military uniform.

While the superhero team regroups and recruits new members to fight crime, the villains appear to be uniting to fight back. Oliver will be busy fighting the Mob in the next season, as they emerge as the biggest threat to Star City.

Oliver has the added responsibility to take on the Mob as the newly appointed Mayor of Star City. After the death of his team member, Oliver will unveil a statue to honour Black Canary (Katie Cassidy). However, the trailer shows Amell’s character being kidnapped and beaten. The kidnapping appears to have taken place after the statue is unveiled.

A set of new characters will be introduced in “Arrow” Season 5. Felicity can be seen telling Oliver in the video that he has been waiting for things to get back to the way they were. However, that will not happen. Oliver will have to train Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez), Evelyn Sharp (Madison McLaughlin) and Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum) to fight crime as a part of his team.

The trailer of “Arrow” Season 5 also teased a new masked character with a sword. It is not clear if this character is Ragman (Joe Dinicol) or the new villain Prometheus, but given the previously released picture of Ragman that looks a little different; the character in the promo video is most likely the new villain.
