Arsenal was able to clinch the Mesut Ozil deal with just about half an hour left before the summer transfer window closed, but their eagerness and patience is now paying dividends.

"This is a perfect decision for me and I'm looking forward to it all," Ozil told the club's official website of the last-minute transfer.

"I chose Arsenal because they are one of the top clubs in England."

"The coach is a world-class manager - he has demonstrated that for years."

"A lot of players have developed under his guidance in the past and that's why I decided to come here. I want to improve further. Arsenal are well known for the strength of their technical game and their desire to play attacking football, and I think I will fit perfectly into that."

The Gunners are sitting at the top of the table in the Premier League and have won both of their fixtures in the UEFA Champions League.

Taking pride in being an unselfish team player, Ozil has already recorded a total of 3 assists in the Premier League, and a goal and an assist in the Champions League.

"Assists lead to success and I'm the sort of player that likes to create goals. I think a lot of my team-mates know me as a player who is not selfish," he added.

"It makes me very happy when I create goals or score goals myself. But the most important thing is that the team reaches its goal and plays positive football."

His ability to work through tight spaces and deliver passes with pinpoint accuracy, traces back to his involvement with Affenkafig or cage football.

"The pitch was so small," he intimated.

"Most of the time, I played against people that were five or six years older than me. At the time I was not that tall. I had to establish myself against older and stronger people. Because the pitch was so small, we didn't have any corners."

"The game always went on. This helped me to improve my technique a lot. That definitely made my life easier for the future. I think you can see on the pitch that I'm technically gifted."

Ozil expressed his desire to contribute to Arsenal's success and to finally bag an overdue silverware for the Gunners.

"In the last few years, Arsenal haven't been so successful but we want to change that," he said.

"We want to win trophies, and I think the fans are looking forward to that too. We have a very strong and a very young team that can improve a lot under the manager. I think we will win trophies because we have the potential to do so."

As can be observed, Mesut did not have a problem settling in with the squad because of his nature of being an unselfish person coupled with the presence of compatriots Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski.
