An unnamed NASA astronaut recently took a picture of one of the most exotic beauties of Earth. The picture shows an archipelago being cut through by wavy lines, a sight unfamiliar to most of its viewers, but not to astronauts.

The image shows the Great Exuma Island in the Bahamas and the island cays and tidal channels between them. The astronaut took a shot from the International Space Station, or ISS, with the help of a Nikon digital camera. People believe that the beauty of the picture lies in the nine-mile area covered in the picture and the shadows being formed by the clouds above the massive ocean.

That's not all, however. While taking pictures of the Great Exuma Island, the lucky astronaut also photographed a tiny plane flying over the islands, as can be seen in the photos posted by Express. However, it can only be clearly seen by zooming into the picture.

The Exuma cays are also famous for being “private island playgrounds” for a number of celebrities, including Johnny Depp, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and Tyler Perry.

The Great Exuma Island in the Bahamas is located in isolation, that is, away from the other bigger Bahamian islands. The tidal changes across the bank of the cays that spread across a distance of nine miles causes the water to flow back and forth the small islets, forming a spectacular view.

In the picture, the dark blue areas represent the deepest channels where the water has cut through the rocks in the lining of the cays. Meanwhile, the light blue areas represent the shallow water, which is less than 80 feet deep.
