Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer makes an impression in Hollywood
5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) recently made waves when they teamed up with Hot Topic for a meet-and-greet in Hollywood.
The Australian band has just released their second album, titled “Sounds Good Feels Good.” The event was high on audience participation as the fans’ squeals turned into sing-alongs as the concert progressed.
According to Billboard, the pop-punk band kicked off the event with their popular single, “Hey Everybody,” to the delight of their fans, who are mostly teenagers. They also performed “She’s Kinda Hot,” which is the first single off their sophomore album. The carrier single peaked at no. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band performed more songs from their first and second albums such as “Amnesia” and “Jet Black Heart.”
5SOS is a band from Sydney that was formed in 2011. The band rose to prominence when they joined One Direction on the latter’s “Take Me Home Tour.” The band is popular in Britain and Australia and has chart-topping singles in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.
In their previous TV guesting on Chatty Man, 5SOS member Ashton Irwin joked that their record label refers to them as the biggest band that no one’s ever heard of. Irwin’s bandmate Luke Hemmings addressed that comment when he announced the last song of the event.
"If you don't know who we are, this is a song you should know... hopefully," Hemmings said before announcing their single, “She Looks So Perfect.”
When the band left the stage, the fans swarmed the Hot Topic store for the meet-and-greet, where the band also announced the tour dates for their “2016 Sounds Live Feels Like tour,” which is set to start in July.
