‘Australian Survivor’ 2016: New trailer gives a sneak peek of the 24 castaways
Network Ten has just unleashed the first teaser of “Australian Survivor” Season 3, and it looks like exciting things are definitely ahead for the action-packed reality show.
“This is a game of survival where only one can win,” host Jonathon La Paglia says as he opens the preview video. His backdrop: the lush trees and dreamy beach of Samoa, where the third season was filmed. This is where the 24 Aussie castaways have to outwit, outlast and outplay each other for 55 days.
Describing itself as the world’s most successful reality show is coming, “Australian Survivor” provided a sneak peek of this season’s castaways. The clip, which runs for more than a minute, offers a teaser of the contestant’s careers, strategies and personalities.
One female castaway can be heard saying, “I prosecute criminal cartels,” while another quips, “I might be a teacher but I'm a student of this game.” It seems the contestants’ backgrounds vary greatly for this year, with one describing herself an intelligence analyst.
Meanwhile, a castaway hints of what his winning formula would be: lie, cheat, steal. Another one has a completely opposite view, however as he claims, “Honesty can get you the full way.” One contestant also reveals where his priorities lie. “Mateship’s everything,” he says. “Mateship is very important.”
Apart from the castaways, this is also the first time for “Australian Survivor” viewers to see the new host. Earlier in April, Network Ten announced that the show will be hosted by “Seven Days” star Jonathan LaPaglia. The news elicited a mixed reaction from fans.

According to the network, they chose the Adelaide-born actor for his commitment to personal fitness and outdoor pursuits, as well as his diverse acting career and love of the show. The 46-year-old TV actor is also known for his appearances in “The District,” “Underbelly” and “New York Undercover.” One of his most recent roles is Dr Patrick McNaughton in the series “Love Child.”
“Australian Survivor” follows the international “Survivor” format, where contestants are marooned off to a remote tropical island and are divided into two tribes. They are faced with a series of challenges that test their endurance and strength, as well as their strategy to outwit, outplay and outlast their competitors to win.
The show aired its first season in 2002, which was followed by a celebrity season in 2006. However, “Australian Survivor” was axed because of poor ratings and negative reviews. Network Ten is still mum about the premiere date of “Australian Survivor” Season 3, but it will reportedly air at the last quarter of this year.
