Joss Whedon’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is set to introduce two new superheroes—Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver. Fans are eager to know their story and how things shape up for them. Marvel has recently launched “Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude—This Scepter’d Isle Infinite Comic #1” revealing Loki’s role in Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver’s origin.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” prequel comic depicts the events after the Battle of New York. The website notes it explains how the scepter went from Loki to Baron Von Strucker and how it plays a role in Quicksilver a.k.a. Pietro Maximoff and Scarlet Witch a.k.a. Wanda Maximoff's origin and “activation” of their superhuman powers. The very act of “activating” powers was recently shown in Marvel’s TV series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” The publication speculates it may indicate the possibility of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver being revealed as Inhumans at “some point in Age of Ultron.”

The website states that the comic by Will Corona Pilgrim and Wellinton Alves also reveals the connection between “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Fans got their first glimpse of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch and supervillain Baron Von Strucker in 2014’s “Captain America 2.” The comic elaborates on that very aspect and other scenes from the movie.

“This Sceptre’d Isle” is now available for purchase. Fans can take a glimpse of the comic cover page via photos published on Newsrama. According to the website, the story reveals how Strucker uses the sceptre, testing the subjects and “unlocking” their powers. He begins his experiment in the fictional European city of Sokovia, and Wanda and Pietro are his subjects.

“The Battle of New York is over, but the war has just begun! S.H.I.E.L.D. is taking a vested interest in artifacts recovered from the cataclysm...but they're not the only ones! Dive deeper into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with this prelude to the upcoming film Marvel's 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' in the stunning Infinite Comics style!”, reads the synopsis of the 69-page comic on Marvel’s official website. “Avengers Age of Ultron” is scheduled to hit the theatres on May 1, 2015.
