Joss Whedon's won the heart of Australians as his new horror flick "The Cabin in the Woods," will be released in Australia

This was because of the petition signed by outraged fans when it was declared that the movie will go straight to DVD.

The horror film stars "The Avengers" actor, Chris Hemsworth. Other members of the cast are Kristen Connolly, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Anna Hutchison, Bradley Whitford, and Richard Jenkins. The film is directed and co-written by Drew Goddard.

The film revolves around the vacation of five college friends who went to a remote cabin in the woods, while the technicians watched them through a hidden camera and manipulated their environment to a common horror archetype. The technicians put their bets and the students are dying to escape.

The film was shown in North America and Britain last April 12, and made more than $52 million at the box office worldwide. The film bosses decided not to release the film on Australian theaters and it caused anger and disappointment to many fans. They were told to wait for the DVD copy of the film.

The film's distribution company, Village Roadshow, received tons of angry messages from the fans demanding for an Australian release of the film. Moreover, an online petition titled 'Save The Cabin' was set up as part of a high-profile campaign to bring the movie to cinemas.

Due to the pressure, movie executives agreed to give a limited release of the film in the cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

A statement from Village Roadshow reads, "Your response has been overwhelming. Thank you for being so passionate about The Cabin In The Woods... We are delighted to confirm screenings in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, along with Sydney and Melbourne"
