Baby Rahul of India: Spontaneous Human Combustion or Child Abuse?
Baby Rahul, a 3-month-old baby in India, who burst into flames, is undergoing treatment to have suffered from a suspected case of spontaneous human combustion or SHC according to expert Indian doctors.
The baby was admitted to the hospital's ICU for four consecutive times after just simply catching fire. Numerous doctors from all over the world are shocked with this story that has turned easily viral online. Apparently, there were no other sources cited that could ignite the fire.
In fact, the investigation of the case of baby Rahul has even led to possible issues of abuse. According to Dr J Jagan Mohan, the head of the hospital's burns department, there is no way that the baby's case is that of the SHC.
Right before the tests were made according to the head of pediatrics of the hospital, the parents of baby Rahul claimed that their child just burned instantaneously. But the people in the village they live in do not believe this and the couple were forced to leave the community.
Karnan Perumal, baby Rahul's father, said in an interview with the New York Times that they have not lost their minds to burn their own child. He and her wife are scared enough of the people who threaten their lives, accusing them of burning baby Rahul. He is asking for help from the government, notwithstanding, the fear they feel if their child burns up again.
The baby's mother, on the other hand, attested that the first time she saw her child burst into flames was nine days after his birth date. She mentioned that she saw flames on baby Rahul's belly and right knee.
At present, the doctors are still confused about the real cause behind this shocking medical case and theories of possible negligence on the side of the parents are still spreading all over the Net.
In 2011 though, there was a case of spontaneous human combustion which was declared the official reason behind the death of an Irish man.
So with the case of baby Rahul, what do you think could have been the cause?
