Sony also announced that PS4 owners of “Arkham Knight” would get access to bonus content before its available on other platforms. The Amazon pre-order page for the Limited Edition “Batman Arkham Knight” bundle indicates that PlayStation gamer's will get access to a Justice League 3000 Batman skin and Classic TV series skins for Batman and the Batmobile.
The listing also highlights the previously revealed “Scarecrow Nightmare Missions.” As noted by Polygon, the “Nightmare Missions” were revealed in June last year and will see the the Scarecrow unleash his nightmare-inducing toxins on Gotham, turning the city into a twisted, hellish version of itself. A new trailer has been added to the Sony PlayStation YouTube channel, giving gamer's a glimpse of what these mind-bending “Nightmare Missions” will entail.
Speaking to GamingBolt, Rocksteady social marketing manager, Gaz Deaves expressed how liberated the development team feels on the new hardware. The version of Gotham featured in “Arkham Knight” is five times the size of the one featured in previous games, and Deaves assures gamer's that the team are putting the extra power to good use.
“Gameplay-wise, it’s been very liberating to take the Dark Knight from the confines of Arkham City into the massive, open explorable Gotham that we’ve built for this game. The extra scope has given us so much opportunity to enhance every aspect of the game, gliding and navigating the rooftops has been expanded to accommodate the increased size of the city -- both in terms of footprint and vertical height -- and at street level the Batmobile gives us a lot of options for mixing up combat, navigation, problem-solving and more,” he said.
After a series of delays to add polish, “Batman Arkham Knight” is finally on the home-stretch, with a clear release date in sight. The game will be released on PS4, PC and Xbox One on June 23.
