‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice': Ben Affleck on his ‘burnout' Batman version
Ben Affleck recently talked about his Batman version in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” in a recent interview. The actor also discussed the difference between portraying Bruce Wayne and Batman in the Zack Snyder film.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” main stars Affleck and Henry Cavill (Superman) recently talked about the differences in their respective character roles in an interview with USA Today. Affleck confirmed previous reports claiming his Batman version is already worn out.
Affleck revealed that his Batman version in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is someone who’s been through a lot of crime-fighting escapades already. The actor said he’s “a guy who had been through that experience already for many years and was kind of burnt out and asking himself what the point of it all was and going through an existential crisis.”
The actor also talked about playing Bruce Wayne. Whereas Batman is usually associated with his Batsuit and Batmobile, Affleck said Bruce Wayne is “much more naked,” that’s why he thinks it’s important to “bring something distinct and new and different” in the character’s portrayal.
In the same interview with USA Today, Snyder also talked about what really angers Batman in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” Although he may already be past having vengeance on the criminals, the director said the only “thing that really boils” Batman is seeing innocent children being victimised.
Cavill also talked about his Superman version in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” In terms of winning a battle against Batman, the actor said Superman “can sure as hell take Batman out if he wants to,” which he said the caped crusader takes advantage of. However, he teased that Superman also shows restraint in beating Batman since he is “far more relaxed.” Cavill likened Superman to a “dad just being at home.”
Affleck’s revelation about his Batman version being “burnt out” somehow confirms previous reports about the caped crusader in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” It’s believed the Dark Knight has been operating in the shadows. Batman has reportedly been fighting crime out of an abandoned and decrepit Wayne Manor.
