The Battlefield 3 Beta, which is now being played on several official servers, have been hacked and several unofficial servers have popped out. EA DICE has released a statement against the illegal servers and warns of impending ban on EAOrigin to those who play in the said servers.

The official servers have been running the Operation Metro map in rush mode with a player cap of 32 players. The map also can handle up to 64 players. Ever since the hack of the game, servers have appeared that allows 64 up to 128 players.

Electronic Arts then has released a statement on the official forum of Battlefield 3 addressing the existence of the illegal servers and warning every player that participating in the offending servers may get them banned from Battlefield 3 and their Origins account effectively making their games in their accounts inaccessible. The post by DICE representative Bazajaytee in the official Battlefield forum has now disappeared.

Perhaps the threat of banning someone from games they have purchased legally by playing a game on illegal servers seems harsh. That may explain the disappearance of the post in the official forum since Battlefield 3 Beta is an unreleased game being allowed to be played free in EA's servers. Especially that they may stand to lose thousands of customers and the impossible task of tracking every players that used illegal servers and tracing them back to their Origin accounts.

Battlefield 3 will be available in Oct. 25, 2011 as stated by the game's official web site. Published by EA DICE, the game was tauted to have the Frostbite 2 Game Engine and is positioned to compete with Call of Duty series. The game can be pre-ordered on Origin.
