The GMA-7 popular soap opera My Husband's Lover officially ended on Friday, Oct 18, after five months of successful run. Many of its followers are talking in social media sites are the final liplock scene between main leads Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo which was cut off just a few inches before their lips touch.

The manager of the two main actors of the soap had spread the word and photo in social media just hours before the final episode aired that their lips actually touched.

Viewers of the My Husband's Lover a week earlier were likewise teased with the near kiss which was cut off at the most crucial part.

However, a day earlier than the bekiserye's final episode, the Fox hit musical Glee had gay characters Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson in the fourth episode of its Season 5 in a liplock.

The kiss was preceded by Blaine, who is actually a half-Filipino named Chris Darren, proposing marriage Kurt, portrayed by real gay actor Chris Colfer. Here is the clip of the wedding proposal.

Glee is definitely more daring than My Husband's Lover because of the liberal attitude of U.S. viewers over gay relationships, but it should be pointed out that hit shows like Glee are shown simultaneously with the U.S. telecast on local cable channels like ETC that Filipino viewers do get to watch those scenes that could offend Philippine Catholic bishops, which explains the reason behind the snipping of My Husband's Lover's final scene.

Glee even took one step further by having the two gay characters entering into a gay marriage, possible in some U.S. states but definitely has very slim chances of being allowed in the Philippines.

While the bekiserye has ended its local broadcast, some of its cast still has work to do, including Tom and Dennis who will promote their My Husband's Lover album titled TomDen, in some U.S. cities such as San Diego and Los Angeles in California.

Tom disclosed that two days after the album's release, it became number one in iTines.

The album, however does not include the theme song of the soap opera, One More Try, originally sung by Kuh Ledesma, but given a male spin by the lovers and aired during the last week of the soap.

Because of the show's successful run, some gay groups are clamouring for a part 2 of the bekiserye. Some have suggesting casting the two actors again in gay roles, while others think other local actors could give justice to the role.

Among the name being cited as possible good gay loveteams to follow the TomDen tradition are some actors being hounded with gay rumours. Among the pairs proposed are Jake Cuenca and Paulo Avelino, Arron Villaflor and Sam Concepcion, Piolo Pascual and Coco Martin, and Enzo Pineda and Rocco Nacino.

Among these pairs, Coco Martin had appeared in several indie movies that involved liplock with male actors such as Alan Paule in Masahista and Paulo Rivero in Daybreak.

Jake Cuenca recently starred as a gay communist in Lihis where he also paid lip service to Joem Bascon.

While male liplock scenes are already common in local cinema as it is in foreign TV shows, local TV audiences could only hope that if ever there will be a part two of My Husband's lover, the producers will bring the script and storyline a level higher, including more intimate moments involving its male stars.
