Bella Swan's engagement ring, other ‘Twilight’ saga props go up for auction
The “Twilight” saga may have ended on the silver screen but fans of the on-and-off screen love team between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson can get a piece of memento from Stephenie Meyer’s fantasy series.
Over 900 props used in the filming of five “Twilight” movies will be auctioned off in a two-day bidding at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood on Nov. 19 and 20. “Twilight” saga enthusiasts who cannot make it to the event in California, however, can still participate through phone and online bidding. The auction will also be live-streamed on the event website.
One of the items that will be auctioned of is the oval diamond engagement ring that vampire hunk Edward Cullen, played by Pattinson, had presented to Stewart’s Bella Swan. The engagement ring comes with a satin black ring box with black plastic beads decorating the border.
According to Prop Store ad Summit Entertainment, all lots will be presented to prospective bidders though a two-volume catalogue that will be published in hard and soft copies. Items are also available for online viewing here.
Prior to the two-day auction, select items from the lot were displayed at Comic Con International in San Diego from July 20 to 24 and at the Forever Twilight in Forks, Washington, from Sep. 8 to 11.
Aside from the engagement ring that completed Bella’s nuptial wardrobe, another notable item for bidding is her charm bracelet with hand-carved wolf charm from Jacob Black and heart-shaped crystal charm from Cullen. The bracelet symbolizes the love triangle among the three Stephenie Meyer characters.
Stewart and Pattinson became a real-life couple after filming the first movie of the “Twilight” movie series that was released on Nov. 21, 2008.
The sequel “New Moon” was released on Nov. 20, 2009. The film made history for breaking box office records as the biggest midnight screening and opening day after grossing US$72.7 million (AU$94.5 million).
