Benedict Cumberbatch will soon become a father, according to a new report. His fiancée Sophie Hunter is said to be pregnant with their first child.

Showbiz Spy reports that the 36-year-old opera playwright and director is already two months along. The British couple decided to keep the happy news to themselves first before they announce it to the public.

“Benedict is delighted,” the site’s source, who is apparently close to the couple but is not authorised to speak on their behalf, claimed. “She is only two months along, so they’re keen to keep it a secret until they’re past the three months stage. They will deny the pregnancy until they want to announce it. They’re very private.”

The 38-year-old “Sherlock” star and Hunter announced their engagement in a very traditional way, with a newspaper announcement early in November. They haven’t revealed a date set yet for their wedding, but the insider claimed that they would get married before their baby comes out.

“They plan to get married before the baby is born,” the insider continued. “They’re very traditional and don’t want their baby to be born out of wedlock.”

The dubious report did not include the date of their wedding.

Meanwhile, Cumberbatch, who plays the titular character in the UK hit series “Sherlock,” said he will never get tired of playing the high-functioning sociopath.

“If we can keep the quality up,” he told Vogue, “I can’t imagine that I will ever get tired of being Sherlock. I’d love to play him as an old man.”

Before the fourth season of “Sherlock” starts production in 2015, a one-off special episode will be shot first in January. Series co-creator Mark Gatiss recently told Radio Times to expect tragedy along with adventure in the upcoming series. His statement came following speculations that Mary Watson (Amanda Abbington) will die, as is true in the original books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

“You can always expect tragedy as well as adventure, that’s just how it goes,” Gatiss said. “Just because it’s in the stories doesn’t mean it’ll happen in the series because there’s an awful lot of changes and an awful lot of places to go and things to do.”
