Best Handset? Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone in the Lake for 3.5 Months, Still Working When Found
It appears Nokia has created a really sturdy smartphone in the Nokia Lumia 800. The Windows Phone handset disappeared for 3.5 months in a lake which was then found stuck between two rocks during low tide and it is still working!
My Nokia Blog stumbled upon the remarkable story on this Nokia device through social news Web site Reddit, but it initially came from Nokia Sweden. Additionally, Facebook user Roger Nilsson shared a captured image of his salvaged Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone.
"Came across upon a post on the Swedish Nokia Facebook page regarding a little story about a Nokia Lumia 800 that went missing in a lake for about 3.5 months. Was later found between two rocks during low tide," the Reddit report reads.
According to Roger Nilsson in his Facebook post, he took the Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone home and began to clean it the best he could to get rid of the "shells and shit on display, green goo around the entire phone and some other stuff." Mr Nilsson further added, "Let it dry on a radiator and then I put in the charger cable. Imagine my surprise when it boots up as usual! Everything works just like before, the camera is great, battery life is two days and so on. Much can be said however, that quality makes the Nokia!"
Rival smartphone companies like Sony and Samsung are incorporating dust and water resistance feature in their devices, but Nokia appears to have beaten them with the Nokia Lumia 800 that did not even get rated for its underwater resistance.
The Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone handset features a sharp and bright 3.7-inch AMOLED screen with an elegant curved glass design that makes the Finnish company's device the most user-friendly smartphone in the market. Other features and specs included are the 16 GB internal storage capacity; 8 MP rear-facing camera; a variety of available software like the Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia Music and Nokia Mix Radio; and the Windows Phone 7.8 update that offers the Nokia Lumia 800 with the new start screen, lock screen as well as the other available Nokia Lumia applications.
