'Better Watch Out' Kurt Russell as Santa Claus

A teaser trailer of the adventure film “The Christmas Chronicles” has been released online. Kurt Russell is playing Santa Claus in the film, bringing a new version of the character on screen.

Santa is not fat in the film. The trailer [see below] shows the action star in good shape as he puts on the red suit to deliver presents across the globe. How does he explain the lean figure? Billboards add 80 pounds (about 36 kilograms).

The plot of the film revolves around two kids Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy (Judah Lewis), two siblings who are determined to record Santa Claus while he makes his deliveries. They get into the sleigh when he arrives, and somehow manage to crash it.

Christmas is in danger, and the siblings will have to work with Santa in order to save it. The events take them on a journey they never imagined possible.

There are elves in the movie too. The elves appear to be just thumb sized, but they will help Santa save Christmas.

Santa gets caught by the police at one point, but he will take his reindeers and fly out of there. Flying is also tricky for Santa, as he has to avoid crashing into planes.

The film has a lot of humorous scenes. One scene in the trailer shows Santa telling Teddy to hide one part of their adventure if he ever gets the chance to tell this story to Mrs. Claus.

The film has been directed by Clay Kaytis, who previously worked on “The Angry Brids Movie.” The other cast members of the film include Kimberly Williams-Paisley (Claire Pierce), Oliver Hudson (Doug Pierce), Lamorne Morris (Officer Jameson), and Lauren Collins.

“The Christmas Chronicles” is set to be released on Netflix on Nov.22. The movie will not be released in theatres.
