Beyonce to join Coldplay, Bruno Mars in Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show
The Pepsi Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show is turning out to be a high profile event with the recent addition of Hollywood A-lister, Beyonce.
The multi-awarded singer is set to join the band Coldplay for a special Super Bowl 50 performance on Feb. 7 as confirmed by Pepsi to Entertainment Tonight. The two musical artists are said to perform Coldplay’s “Hymn for the Weekend,” a collaboration between the British rock band and Beyonce. The track is also from the band’s seventh album, “A Head of Full of Dreams.”
In a previous video interview, Coldplay shared their excitement over the event and described it as the band’s “greatest moment,” Entertainment Tonight reported. "Are you kidding me? It's the greatest moment of our band's life. We're going to give it everything we have," the group’s frontman, Chris Martin, said in the video clip.
The British rock band’s friend, Phil Harvey, also teased that “special guests” will be joining Coldplay in their upcoming Super Bowl stage. "Today, it’s about how we stage our special guests. Yesterday, what I was nervous about, it was all about the set list," Harvey shared in the same video interview.
Beyonce’s participation in the upcoming halftime show will be her second time to perform in a Super Bowl event. The first was in 2013 where she headlined the Super Bowl 47 Halftime Show. Apart from Beyonce, another returnee to the event is Bruno Mars who previously headlined the 2014 halftime show. The "Just the Way You Are" crooner is also expected to join Coldplay on stage during the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.
In other news, one of Beyonce's hit songs recently topped Spotify’s list of most streamed “running” tunes, according to New York Daily News. To come up with the list, Spotify compiled the users’ playlist songs which featured playlist titles of “run” or “running.” The former “Destiny’s Child” singer’s “Run the World (Girls)” landed at the top spot, followed by Sia’s “Chandelier.” Another Beyonce song also made it to the list, specifically “7/11” which landed at number 5.
Loyal Queen Bey fans can watch out for Beyonce’s performance with Coldplay in the upcoming Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show to air in the US on Feb. 7 at CBS.
