Spoiler alert! This article contains “Beyond” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the next episode airs.
On the premiere episode of “Beyond,” Holden Matthews (Burkely Duffield) will wake up from a 12-year coma to discover what he has become, which he does not exactly understand. He last remembers being 13 years old. Now he’s 25 and he does not recognize the world around him. While waking up after more than a decade is already a miracle in itself, this is overshadowed by the superpowers he now possesses.
In the first hour in this episode, titled “Pilot,” viewers will see how Holden Matthews awakens from a devastating coma to the delight of his parents Tom (Michael McGrady) and Diane (Romy Rosemont), as well as his younger brother Luke (Jonathan Whitesell). What is not very apparent here is that the world has been much different from how it was since he went to sleep. Now, he has to find out how to be an adult on his own when all he remembers was being a pre-adolescent, writes Broadway World.
While he faces this dilemma, Holden is puzzled at his newfound abilities and there are also some memories that he cannot explain. There is also a woman named Willa (Dilan Gwyn) who warns him not to trust everyone around him. Later on, a stranger attacks him and claims to know a lot about his new powers. This makes Holden faced with uncovering exactly what happened to him while he was sleeping.
In the second hour, titled “Tempus Fugit,” Holden will attempt to forget about his recent strange encounters and lead a normal life, just like any other 25-year-old. Luke will try to assist Holden in blending with his surroundings once again and bring him to a college party. The night starts off easy, but strange memories of Willa pop up in his head and lead to some consequences.
“Beyond” will premiere on Monday, January 2, 2017, on Freeform in the US. It will air on Syfy in Australia.
