'The Big Bang Theory': Sheldon's Ring May Not Be Engagement Ring
The season finale of “The Big Bang Theory” Season 8 saw Sheldon (Jim Parsons) asking Gollum, the expert on rings, what to do with the ring that he took out from his drawer after Amy (Mayim Bialik) broke up with him. There was no one who doubted that it was not an engagement ring. Now Bialik is sowing a seed of doubt, saying that one should not jump to “hasty conclusions” when it comes to the ring, as one does not know the complete story.
“We don't really know what the story is with that ring," Bialik said to Los Angeles Times, adding that as an actor that is something that she had to remember. The actress said that it is not known what he was planning to do, how he got the ring or whether he got it from his mother. Also she said, “We don't know what the process was by which he acquired that and what he would think to do with it."
When it comes to Sheldon and Amy’s relationship, anything can happen, according to Bialiak. She said that the final episode "The Big Bang Theory" Season 8 was proof of that. The actress added that only Gollum knows the truth about the ring.
In the final episode of “The Big Bang Theory,” Amy told Sheldon that she needs to take a step back and re-evaluate their relationship, as being his girlfriend has been both mentally and physically challenging for her. Steve Molaro, showrunner of the show, told The Hollywood Reporter (THR) that Sheldon and Amy are not yet done talking. And as Sheldon is "really fond" of her, something is going to happen.
“The Big Bang Theory” Season 9 is scheduled to premiere on Monday, Sept. 21. Molaro said to THR that if there is a time jump, it would not be a long one. In addition to focusing on Sheldon and Amy’s messy yet interesting situation, the opening episode is also expected to reveal whether Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) got married in Las Vegas. And the new season is set to explore how Sheldon and Amy’s break up will affect the group dynamics.
