'Scream Queens' Updates: Premiere Date, Charisma Carpenter To Play Ariana Grande's Mother
“Scream Queens,” the new Fox’s horror-comedy anthology series, has got a premiere date. It is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The first season, consisting of 15 episodes, is set around a college campus that is rocked by a series of murders. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan have created this new series.
The series is like a murder mystery and the killer is hiding his or her identity behind a red mask, and thus has been named Red Devil. The identity of the murderer will be revealed in the final episode, and each character has the motivation to kill. According to the synopsis of the episode, Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts) rules the most sought-after sorority with an “iron fist.” When the school’s dean Kathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis), who is neither fond of sororities or Oberlin, opens the elitist Kappa House for every student and orders Oberlin to accept every pledge, “all hell is about to break loose, as a devil-clad killer begins wreaking havoc, claiming one victim, one episode at a time.”
“Part black comedy, part slasher flick, “Scream Queens” is a modern take on the classic whodunit, in which every character has a motive for murder...or could easily be the next blood-soaked casualty,” according to the synopsis of “Scream Queens.”
In addition to Roberts and Lee Curtis, “Scream Queens” cast also includes Lee Michele, Abigail Breslin, Nasin Pedrad, Oliver Hudson, Skyler Samuels, Keke Palmer, Billie Lourd, Diego Boneta, Glen Powell, Lucien Laviscount, Niecy Nash, Nick Jonas and Ariana Grande.
Meanwhile, Charisma Carpenter is the latest to join the cast of “Scream Queens.” Deadline.com reported that she is will be seen in a pivotal role, as she has been roped in to play mother of Grande’s character. She has a guest-starring role, with the potential to become a recurring character. Grande is playing a sorority girl and one of the henchwomen of Oberlin.
“Scream Queens” panel will be making its debut at Comic-Con on Sunday, July 12. It is a joint panel with “American Horror Story,” which is also co-created by Murphy and Falchuk. Lee Curtis, Roberts, Michele, Samuels and Palmer are joining the cast of FX’s horror anthology series for a joint Q&A session.
