Late Steve Irwin’s teenage daughter Bindi Irwin is gaining popularity these days owing to her stint in the reality TV show “Dancing with the Stars'” (DWTS) Season 21. However, the 17-year-old contestant is trapped in a bizarre legal hassle where she is required to prove that her dad is not alive.

Bindi’s DTWS contract has been dismissed by the judge due to the absence of proof of her dad’s death. She is facing this trouble as she was offered a minor’s contract for signing DTWS that was supposed to be signed by her parents. Bindi’s mother Terri Irwin has already signed a form stating that she has given all rights to any money her daughter will earn from the show, according to TMZ. The judge has sought a proof from her late father Steve as well that he has no objection to the same.

"The court is unable to find that it is in the best interest of the minor to be bound by the terms of the contract," the judge stated on finding Steve’s statement missing. It is possible that the judge is unaware of Bindi’s father’s demise or maybe she just needs a death certificate to be produced.

TMZ also revealed the details of the monetary contract between Bindi and DWTS. The contract states a guarantee of US$125k (AU $174912.02). She will get an additional US$10k per week if she survives in the show till third and fourth week. She will get another US$15,000 (AU $20989.44) in the fifth week and US$20k (AU $27985.92) a week if she stays till sixth and seventh week.

The amount will be increased to US$30k (AU$41978.88) if she gets through the eighth and ninth week on the show. If Bindi makes it to 10th and 11th week she will get US$50,000 (AU$69964.81) a week. Now that the father’s little girl has made it through the eighth week, she has made US$230k (AU$321838.12) so far.

Bindi stepped into the television world with “Bindi the Jungle Girl,” which was an Australian children's television nature documentary series that was presented by Bindi. Since then, she has worked in several television and film projects.

Steve died on Sept. 4, 2006 after he suffered a stingray injury, where the creature's barb pierced him in his chest when he was shooting an underwater documentary for “Ocean’s Deadliest.”
