It is the Black Friday week that shoppers have been waiting for and the rush for the best gadget deals is on with the iPhone 5S, Galaxy S4, HTC One and the Moto X surely dominating the list of buyer's must-get.

But before taking the plunge, know that these handsets are hardly glitch-free - meaning buyers may get to snap them up for less cash but the problems will remain the same.

Listed below are issues known to plague these upscale devices (courtesy of BGR), which consumers would want to know first before deciding on that big buy not only for Black Friday but also for the 2013 Christmas season.

Getting the iPhone 5S means having to bear with Touch ID and battery troubles

Experts view battery issues on high-end gadgets like the iPhone 5S as purely expected - the problem is not the 5S alone. Flagships are operated by top-notch components that in turn put so much pressure on battery life.

But what is more of concern about the 5S is its Touch ID feature, which uses fingerprint to unlock the handset. Apple says there more possibilities that the technology could bring in the future. However, security experts are wary on the possible threat to privacy as Touch ID gathers biometrics data that could be hacked and use for nefarious purposes.

Galaxy S4 is too hot to handle, literally

The Galaxy S4 houses a quad-core CPU, a beastly GPU and 2GB of RAM. Its innards make for a very fast processing muscle but like a car, more power means generation of too much heat deep inside. In the case of GS4, this has become very evident during extensive use like gaming as many users reported of heat build-up on the back cover.

A flagship that it is, this is not surprising at all, experts said. Would-be buyers will have to bear with the inconvenience until such time Samsung engineers come up with a solution.

Android darling HTC One is far from being perfect

Reviewers hailed the HTC One as the best Android smartphone for 2013, besting the likes of GS4 and Sony Xperia Z. The device won raves for its sheer power and solid build yet according to Fixya, a consumer service group, it suffers from the same strengths that it is noted for.

The One scores big on reviews mainly on its audio and camera killer features yet it appears many owners are not too impressed. Add to the complaints battery life and the HTC One turns out as not so solid at all. This is a case of first impressions that were initially overwhelming but didn't last for long.

Moto X means limitations

Among the flagships listed here, the Moto X differs a lot because it's actually a mid-range device. Therefore the price tag is much lower but one thing is sure, buyers will be getting what they pay for. Among them: less than stellar display screen, moderate processing power and mediocre camera.

But the biggest disappointment is the Moto X's storage space. It is simply insufficient and Motorola bungled further by denying the handset a microSD slot for added memory. The only for the Moto X to gain more space is via Cloud access, which for Fixya is an expensive option for buyers who seek bargain deals - short term and long term.
