'Black Panther 2' director wants to make something that has meaning
The pressure is on for “Black Panther 2,” and Director Ryan Coogler knows it. In a recent interview, Coogler talked about facing the pressure to deliver another box office hit and how he and his team plan to go about making another great movie.
The first “Black Panther” movie was a big hit at the box office. This will be a tough act to follow. In an interview with IndieWire, Coogler said that he still can’t believe that the film was such a big success. The director explained that filmmaking is a long and hard process, and often times the filmmakers don’t know if their project is going to work.
Now that Coogler has been asked to helm the sequel, he admitted that there is going to be pressure. Coogler has some experience in feeling the pressure. He explained that he has made three movies in the past, and each one came with it’s own kind of pressure. This time around the director has to face a new set of challenges.
“When it comes to making a sequel, I’ve never done it before, a sequel to something that I’ve directed myself,” Coogler said. “So I think there’s gonna be a lot of pressure there, but what we’re going to try to do is just focus on the work, like we always do. Really try to go step by step and try to quiet everything else around us, really focus on trying to make something that has some type of meaning.”
It remains to be seen what new storylines and characters Coogler will introduce in the sequel. Very little is known about the movie at this point in time.
“Black Panther 2” has been confirmed, but a release date hasn’t been announced yet. The casting is also yet to begin for the film.
