'Black Panther' movie: Actor playing the role of villain revealed; T'Challa has love interest
Michael B. Jordan has reportedly been cast in “Black Panther” movie. Lupita Nyong’o is said to be currently in negotiation to also star in the movie. Chadwick Boseman will be reprising his role as the superhero T’Challa.
After playing the role of Johnny Storm in “Fantastic Four” reboot, Jordan has now been cast in “Black Panther” movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It is not clear what role the actor will play in the movie, but a source familiar with the developments of the movie has said that he could be playing the villain.
Jordan is currently working on “The Thomas Crowne Affair” remake. Some of the other projects he worked on previously are “Chronicle,” “Fruitvale Station” and “Creed.”
Marvel has so far not commented about the casting news. Apart from Jordan, Nyong’o is said to be negotiating a deal to be cast in the movie. Details about her character also currently being kept under wraps.
According to The Wrap, Nyong’o will be playing the love interest of T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) in “Black Panther.” The plot of the movie is set in the fictitious African kingdom named Wakanda, so most of the cast members are expected to be African Americans.
The plot revolves around how the prince of Wakanda must take the mantle of Black Panther after the murder of his father King T’Chaka. There have been no official announcements about who will play King T’Chaka in the movie and other casting announcements are also expected to be made soon. It is also not clear if Andy Serkis will be reprising his role as Ulysses Klaw in the movie.
Klaw and Wakanda were introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the movie “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” The superhero Black Panther was later introduced in “Captain America: Civil War.” The fans will now get to explore the kingdom of Wakanda in the forthcoming movie, which is slated to be released on Feb. 16, 2018 in the US. The producers are yet to announce a release date for Australia.
