'Black Sails' Season 3: 'Fear the beard' video released [Watch]
A new video that shows a scene from “Black Sails” Season 3 has been released by Starz. The video appears to show the first meeting of Charles Vane with Blackbeard in the next season.
Blackbeard (Ray Stevenson) is a new character in the TV series, but the story will show that the character has a history with some of the other major characters. The dreaded pirate was one of the founding members of Nassau and he will now return to the island.
The new video teases that Blackbeard may be presumed dead after his long absence from Nassau. “Man puts a dead thing in the ground. He expects it to stay there. Sometimes...it comes back,” Blackbeard says in the video.
Charles Vane (Zach McGowan) can be seen sitting with a sword to his neck by a man standing behind a screen. It is later revealed that the man who is behind the screen is Blackbeard. “Fear the beard,” the text in the video says.
“Blackbeard is the most notorious pirate in history,” Executive Producer Dan Shotz said in a previous video on the YouTube channel of Starz. A scene from “Black Sails” Season 3 in the video shows the pirate expressing his views about the Spanish gold in Nassau.
The video also shows the character searching for his “old friend” Charles Vane. Although Blackbeard threatens Vane with his sword initially, he later hugs him and tells him that it is good to see him. Vane, however, continues to be cautious of the dreaded pirate.
“Blackbeard was previously a mentor to Charles Vance,” Stevenson says in the video. The pirate will now see the opportunity to raise his own fleet in “Black Sails” Season 3, thanks to the Spanish gold that the pirates stole in the previous season. Season 3 will premiere on Jan. 24.
