[Spoiler Alert]
A fleet of eight English ships are heading towards Nassau and the worried pirates get together to arrange the defence of the island. The leaders Captain Vane (Zach McGowan), Max (Jessica Parker Kennedy) and Rackham (Toby Schmitz) get together and plan the defence.
Nassau has more than enough ships and men to take on the invading fleet, but what they lack is an able leader who can unify and command them. There are 12 ships on the island and over 1,000 able bodied men.
Flint (Toby Stephens) is the right man to lead all the men into battle, but he is stranded at sea with no wind to help his ship safely to the nearest shore. He is running out of food and water. With little time left to save the men, Flint has to take some drastic measures.
The differences between Flint and John Silver (Luke Arnold) will turn into an agreement in the next episode of “Black Sails” Season 3. John is the new quartermaster of the ship and responsible for the welfare of the crew. When Flint decides to cut the rations of the men, John voices his strong opposition.
Flint, however, knows that drastic steps are needed if the whole crew is to survive. The pirate captain bluntly tells John that if he is not strong enough to do what needs to be done, Flint would do it for him. The captain appears to be going fishing to get the food the crew needs to survive, along with John.
The fort at Nassau is still not ready and with Flint away at sea, the island is very vulnerable. There is, however, one man on the island who commands the respect of all men. Blackbeard (Ray Stevenson) has already arrived on the island and may turn out to be the saviour of the pirates in “Black Sails” Season 3.
