'Black Sails' Season 3: Starz releases 'condensed history' video [WATCH]
In preparation for the premiere of “Black Sails” Season 3, Starz has released a new video that shows the “condensed history” of the first two seasons. The video shows some of the highlights of the show and tells fans to get ready for more.
[Spoiler alert]
The TV series began with a plot set in 1715, which was the golden age for piracy at high seas. The show tells the story of the pirates who live in the island of Nassau in the Bahamas. The lawless island answers to no government and is run by Eleanor Guthrie (Hannah New).
The main plot of the show revolves around rival pirate captains going after the Spanish ship called Urca de Lima that is carrying lots of gold. The stealing of the gold is expected to help the pirates live a free and independent life, without having to risk their lives every day on the sea.
Captain Flint (Toby Stephens), Charles Vane (Zach McGowan) and Rackham (Toby Schmitz) are all interested in the gold. John Silver (Luke Arnold) becomes a key player in the search for the gold, after he steals a page from a captain’s log and becomes the only person who knows the location of the Spanish ship.
Another key character in the “Black Sails” TV series is a prostitute named Max (Jessica Parker Kennedy). She rises to the position of Madame of a brothel in Nassau and starts dealing in information. She comes to know about the gold and makes a deal with John Silver and enlists Rackham to secure the gold.
Rackham eventually manages to get the gold safely back to Nassau. Flint meanwhile goes to Charlestown to find a new ally. His efforts to find an alternate solution for the welfare of the pirates go in vane and he in turn gets arrested.
Fearing that the hanging of Flint could adversely impact the pirates, Vane plans a rescue attempt. The previous season ended with Flint and Vane joining hands and with Rackham being the owner of the gold back in Nassau.
Will the alliance between Flint and Vane continue in “Black Sails” Season 3? The introduction of the character Blackbeard (Ray Stevenson) may lead to new challenges in the relationships and the power equation among the pirates.
