'Outlander' Season 2 wins author Diana Gabaldon's approval; she calls it 'terrific' in new video
Diana Gabaldon heaped rich praise on “Outlander” Season 2. Filming of most of the episodes for the next season has already been completed, but the production of the show still continues.
A video posted on YouTube shows Gabaldon at the 2016 BAFTA TEA event, where she was asked about the show. “It’s terrific,” Gabaldon said about the next season. She assured the fans that they will be “very pleased” with what the cast and crew have in store for them this time around.
The next season of the show takes Jamie (Sam Heughan), Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) to France. Many new actors, several of them French, have been cast for the next season. When Gabaldon was asked about the casting of Richard Rankin, she said that the actor would be “fabulous” on the show.
The author spent some time signing her books at the event. The next season is based on her book titled “Dragonfly in Amber.” The show will be combining some of the material from different books from the series, to maintain the flow in “Outlander” Season 2.
Gabaldon said that the producers tend to “change things here and there in order to make the chronology work.” So, fans of the book series may get to see a few surprises that they don’t expect on the show.
Jamie and Claire will get to meet many new characters in the next season and they will also face new challenges. Gabaldon said that the French actors were able to get along with the Scottish actors well on the set.
In another video posted on YouTube from the same event cast member Heughan can be seen explaining the new environment that his character will find himself in “Outlander” Season 2. The actor said that Jamie and Claire will have to learn to adapt to their new world. He also pointed out that the two characters will be suffering from a “hang-over” from the events from the first season.
